The CIT Sur has awarded Hoteles Reverón the 2026 Gànigo Tourism Award, a Canarian family business with nearly a century of history and four generations committed to the development of tourism in southern Tenerife. The award recognizes both of its hotels: Reverón Plaza in Los Cristianos and Hotel Spa Villalba in Vilaflor de Chasna.
Here in the mountains, we receive it with pride and with the feeling that this award is also about us.
What the jury recognizes
The CIT Sur Board of Directors, acting as the jury, highlights the Reverón family’s distinctive approach to hospitality. In its words: “warmth, attentive guest care and, above all, affection and appreciation for the people who have been part of their team.”
The jury also emphasizes that behind a company and its establishments are, above all, people, generations and a shared history with the local community. This is exactly what we strive to nurture every day at Villalba.
A family that made its way up the mountain
The story begins on the coast. In 1929, Antonia Reverón Sierra opened Fonda Aeropuerto in Los Cristianos, and her son, Juan Reverón Sierra, helped drive tourism throughout the south of the island. Generations later, the family looked to the heights. They brought the same warm welcome to a very different place: the pine forest, the silence and the clear skies of Vilaflor. <mark>The hotel’s name pays tribute to Agustina and Carmen Villalba, who kept the family business going after Juan Reverón Sierra’s death in 1969.</mark>

Hotel Spa Villalba stands 1,500 metres above sea level, in the heart of Teide’s Corona Forestal, near Vilaflor, the highest village in the Canary Islands. Its Canarian architecture, featuring wood and stone, blends into the landscape rather than imposing itself upon it.
